Mattias Malmstedt is a partner specialized in litigation and all parts of intellectual property as well as commercial law. He has represented clients in a wide variety of complex commercial and intellectual property matters in his 22 years of practicing law. Mattias is an experienced litigator and he appears as legal counsel in the Swedish Supreme Court, other courts, authorities and arbitral tribunals. Mattias has litigated several landmark cases concerning design, patent, trademark, trade secrets and copyright.

Mattias also is also frequently engaged as negotiator regarding international licensing and a wide range of other complex commercial contracts. He helps clients to develop intellectual property strategies and to exploit, enforce, and protect their intellectual property. Mattias frequently advises clients on portfolio assessment, particularly in anticipation of litigation as well as in relation to the acquisition, sale, or exploitation of intellectual property assets.
In conjunction with the firm’s competition law practice, he also advises clients on the overlap between competition law and IP. Apart from traditional IP work he has experience advising on database protection, entertainment matters and privacy and social media matters.
Mattias Malmstedt is author of several different academic publications. He is among others author for the Swedish chapter in “Design Rights – Functionality and Scope of Protection” (Wolters Kluwer, 2018).
